Footnotes
The Import from Word converter transforms Word footnotes and endnotes into CKEditor 5 footnotes (rendered as endnotes).
- The output contains a single consolidated note list. When multiple note lists are present in the source document, their entries are merged in the order in which note references appear in the document content. The consolidated list is placed at the end of the document.
- Footnote and endnote formatting is resolved independently based on the document’s final section. The resolved format corresponding to the type of the first note reference (footnote or endnote) is then used in the output.
- Both block-level and inline content within notes is preserved during conversion.
An example of HTML imported from a Word document:
<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.<a href="#footnote-0"></a></p>
<div class="footnotes">
<hr class="footnotes-divider">
<ol class="footnotes-list" style="list-style-type: lower-roman">
<li class="footnote-definition" id="footnote-0">
<a class="footnote-backlink" href="#ref-footnote-0"></a>
<div class="footnote-content">
<p>Endnote content</p>
</div>
</li>
</ol>
</div>
Copy code
- The placement of notes is currently not configurable.
- Notes whose content starts with a list have their reference mark rendered outside the list in HTML.
