CKEditor Docs
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and CKSource Holding sp. z o.o., a company organized under the laws of Poland, with its registered office at ul. Okopowa 58/72, 01-042 Warsaw, Poland, entered in the register of entrepreneurs of the National Court Register (KRS) under number 0000896990, kept by the District Court for the capital city of Warsaw in Warsaw, 13th Commercial Division of the National Court Register, with share capital of PLN 8,297,850.00, NIP 5252860727, REGON 388793391 (“CKSource,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of CKEditor Docs (the “Service”): the CKEditor Docs: Write & Review app in ChatGPT and the CKEditor Docs web app.
By signing in to or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to CKSource's Acceptable Use Policy. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
The Service lets you create, edit, review, comment on and export documents, either through ChatGPT or the CKEditor Docs web app. Your documents are stored in your account so you can reopen them later.
ChatGPT is a separate service operated by OpenAI under its own terms. CKSource, a Tiugo Technologies company, provides this Service; OpenAI does not make or endorse it. To use the Service you need an internet connection, a current web browser and, for the app in ChatGPT, a ChatGPT account.
We may change, add or remove features, or suspend or discontinue the Service. If we discontinue it, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can export your documents.
Using any online service involves risks, such as phishing, malware, unauthorized access to your account and interception of data sent over the internet. To reduce these risks, keep your browser and operating system up to date, use antivirus software and sign in only through the official sign-in page or through ChatGPT. For the Service to work, we store small files (cookies and similar browser storage) on your device for sign-in and for the editor, as described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Free use and limits
The Service is currently free. To keep it available for everyone, we may limit usage, for example the number of AI requests. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance, and you will not be charged unless you choose to subscribe.
3. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the Service. If you are under 18, you need your parent or legal guardian's permission.
You are responsible for activity in your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents, text, images and other content you create or upload (“Your Content”). You give CKSource a limited, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, copy, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for you, including to perform the actions you or ChatGPT request on your behalf. This license includes permission for our hosting providers and other service providers to perform these activities on our behalf, solely for those purposes. When you direct the Service to interact with ChatGPT or another connected service, you authorize us to transmit the content needed to carry out your request to that service.
CKSource does not use Your Content for advertising or to train AI models. Content transmitted to OpenAI or another connected third-party service is handled under that provider's applicable terms, privacy policies and settings. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to use it with the Service.
5. AI features
The Service uses AI to suggest and make changes to documents, both through ChatGPT and the CKEditor Docs web app. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. Review it before you rely on it, publish it or share it. AI output is not professional (for example legal, medical or financial) advice. AI output added to your documents becomes part of Your Content.
6. Acceptable use
You must follow CKSource's Acceptable Use Policy. Do not use the Service for illegal content, or to store payment card details, passwords or other sign-in secrets, government ID numbers or health records. If you break these rules, we may act as described in section 10.
7. Reporting illegal content and complaints
You can report content you believe is illegal, or submit a complaint about the Service, using the contact details below. In a report, please say where the content is and why you believe it is illegal, and include your name, your email address and a statement that your report is made in good faith. We will confirm that we received it and reply within 14 days. We don't monitor your documents; we act on reports and legal orders, and our decisions are made by people.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service, its software and its design belong to CKSource or its licensors. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, CKSource grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access and use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes during your authorized use of the Service. No ownership rights are transferred. This right does not grant a separate license to download, install, distribute or embed the underlying CKEditor software in another product or service; any such use requires a separate applicable license. CKSource and its licensors reserve all rights not expressly granted. “CKSource”, “CKEditor”, “CKBox” and their logos are trademarks of CKSource and may be used publicly only with our permission.
9. Third-party services
The Service works with third-party services such as ChatGPT and, if you choose it, Google sign-in. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account using the contact details below. We may remove content that breaks these Terms. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. We will tell you the specific reason and how you can challenge the decision, and where possible give you a chance to export your documents. What happens to your data afterwards is described in the Privacy Policy.
If you are a consumer, you can also withdraw from your agreement with CKSource within 14 days of creating your account, without giving any reason and at no cost. To do so, send us a clear statement, for example by email to docs@ckeditor.com. You can use the model withdrawal form below, but you do not have to. You meet the deadline if you send your statement before the 14 days end.

11. Disclaimers
If you are a consumer, CKSource is responsible under the law for providing the Service in conformity with these Terms, and nothing in this section limits your statutory rights if it does not. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, CKSource disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that stored content will never be lost; keep your own copies of important documents.

To the extent permitted by law, neither CKSource nor its suppliers is liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, exemplary or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data or lost revenue, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms. Subject to the following sentence and to the extent permitted by applicable law, while the Service is provided to you free of charge, you have no right to recover damages from CKSource or its suppliers arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, regardless of the legal basis of the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example because of changes in the law, in the Service or for security reasons. We will tell you about changes by email or in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. This also applies to changes to the Acceptable Use Policy that affect the Service. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account before the changes take effect; otherwise, the updated Terms apply.

These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and can bring a claim in the courts of that country.

Privacy Policy
This notice covers CKEditor Docs (the “Service”): the CKEditor Docs: Write & Review app in ChatGPT and the CKEditor Docs web app. It supplements the CKSource Privacy Policy, which also applies. Where the two differ, this notice applies to the Service.
The controller is CKSource Holding sp. z o.o., ul. Okopowa 58/72, 01-042 Warsaw, Poland. Privacy contact: dpo@cksource.com. The Service is provided by CKSource, a Tiugo Technologies company; OpenAI does not make or endorse it.
What we collect and why
Account data: your email address, name and profile photo (if you sign in with Google), and sign-in and session details such as IP address and browser, to create and secure your account. If you agree, we may also email you about CKEditor products. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Your documents: the content, images, comments and suggestions you create, and the instructions and document content ChatGPT sends to our tools, to provide our services including editing, AI features and document export. When you link your ChatGPT account, we receive an account identifier from OpenAI. Please do not include payment card details, passwords or other sign-in secrets, government ID numbers or health records in your documents; our Terms of Use prohibit this.
Usage and technical data: logs and usage statistics, to run, secure and improve the Service. Logs of tool calls include document content and are kept in our own infrastructure.
Reports, complaints and support: if you report content, submit a complaint or contact support, we process your name, email address and the contents of your message to handle it.
We do not use your documents for advertising or to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data.
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- account data and documents, to provide the Service under our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
- sign-in and session data, logs and usage statistics, for our legitimate interest in securing, maintaining and improving the Service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
- marketing emails, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR);
- reports, complaints and support requests, and any data we must keep or disclose under the law, to comply with our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) and for our legitimate interest in handling them (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
- to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, for our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Giving us account data is a condition of our agreement with you, and without it we cannot provide the Service. Agreeing to marketing emails is optional.
Who receives it
Service providers that host the Service and send our emails, Google if you sign in with Google, and OpenAI, whose models power the Service's AI features. OpenAI processes document content on our behalf to provide these features. Separately, when you use the app in ChatGPT, our tools send document content back to ChatGPT. What you share with ChatGPT is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.
Information for EU users
Because CKSource operates internationally, your data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area, including to the United States. Where the destination country does not benefit from an adequacy decision of the European Commission (including, for certified recipients, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework), we use the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep it
Account data and documents are kept until you ask us to delete them, and afterwards only where the law requires it or to secure legal claims, until the relevant limitation period expires. Deleting a document in the web app does not remove it from our systems immediately. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data, documents, images and logs of tool calls within 30 days. Logs of tool calls are deleted after 30 days and other logs after 90 days. We delete marketing data when you withdraw your consent. If we suspend or close your account, or discontinue the Service, we delete your data within 30 days after the export period, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests (listed above). If you object, we will stop that processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or we need the data to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
You have the right to access, correct, delete and move your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw your consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes UODO) in Poland or with the data protection authority in your country of residence. You may object at any time to marketing. To exercise these rights, or to delete your account or specific documents, contact dpo@cksource.com.
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.
Cookies
We only use cookies and similar browser storage needed for sign-in and for the editor to work, including counting editor usage for licensing. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the Service. If you are under 18, you need your parent or legal guardian's permission.
Information for U.S. users
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and to access, correct and delete it. We collect the categories of information described above (identifiers, account information, documents and usage data) from you, from ChatGPT and, if you use it, from Google, and use them for the purposes described above. We disclose them to service providers for business purposes only, and to OpenAI and Google when you use ChatGPT or Google sign-in. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out.
To make a request, contact dpo@cksource.com. You may use an authorized agent. We will verify your request and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
