CKEditor 5 v47.5.0 Release Highlights: AI Translate, Export to PDF v2 and more
As a focused improvement release, CKEditor 5 v47.5.0 expands AI-assisted editing workflows and document export capabilities.
The release introduces AI-powered document translation as well as refining how AI Chat suggestions are reviewed and applied. A new version of Export to PDF is also introduced, bringing more control over layout and metadata.
CKEditor AI
New AI Translate
AI Translate extends CKEditor AI with the ability to translate entire documents between languages. The feature is designed for this specific translation workflow.
AI Translate follows a similar user interface and interaction model to AI Review, allowing users to review translated content as suggestions while keeping the original text for comparison. Users can inspect translated segments, verify accuracy, and apply suggestions with confidence, all within the editor.
Improved handling of suggestions in AI Chat
The release also improves how multiple changes suggested in AI Chat are presented, making review of AI-generated suggestions more manageable and trackable, especially when it comes to complex revisions. Instead of presenting multiple changes as a continuous stream of suggestions, proposed changes are now organized into clear, self-contained cards.
Each card can be previewed in detail and applied consistently, whether the AI suggests a single change or a larger set of edits.
Export to PDF v2
The Export to PDF feature now supports the new version of the HTML to PDF converter API. This update significantly expands user’s control when generating PDF documents.
This brings more flexible layout configuration with image support, allowing headers and footers can be configured independently for first, odd and even pages. Page sizes can also be defined using predefined or custom dimensions, making it easier to match with different document requirements.
Export to PDF is available as an add-on in the Free, Essential, Professional, and Custom plans.

The new converter API allows editing PDF metadata such as title, subject, and author. Security options have also been expanded, including owner password protection for permission control and digital signature support using PKCS#12 certificates.
Additional improvements include compression settings for specialized use cases, more precise rendering controls, and an experimental option for automatic outline generation to produce a table of contents.
Other updates and improvements
CKEditor v47.5.0 also includes several smaller enhancements and stability updates. Highlights include:
-
Minor breaking changes related to the AI improvements
-
Bug fix to correctly paste or import from Word when the content includes left- or right- aligned images with wrapped text around
-
Improvements for table resize, comments, and table block alignment in emails
A detailed list of improvements can be found in the changelog.
Old installation methods sunset
With the move to the new installation methods, the old installation methods will only be supported up to CKEditor 5 v48.0.0, currently planned for release in early Q2 2026. If your project still relies on the older approach, now is the right time to either migrate to the new setup or consider CKEditor 5 Long Term Support (LTS) if a near-term migration is not feasible.
You can find a detailed timeline on the dedicated GitHub issue.
