CKEditor Weekly for October 21, 2013

Welcome to CKEditor Weekly, a summary of all the interesting happenings in and around the CKEditor community. CKEditor 4.3 is back on track with loads of tickets getting closed over the week. We also have information about CKEditor Mobile. Read on for details...

CKEditor in review

  • The team is diligently getting CKEditor 4.3 ready for its imminent release. Over a dozen issues have been closed since last week. You can see the full list here.
  • The MathJax widget is finally ready and will be included in CKEditor 4.3! You can follow everything that has been done for it in the MathJax umbrella ticket. If you want to see it in action, download CKEditor 4.3 beta and check out the samples.
  • After CKEditor 4.3 is released the team will give CKEditor Mobile their undivided attention. This will be a huge undertaking since mobiles present various UX challenges, but a few promising ideas have already been tossed around. The new CKEditor Mobile should be out in the summer of 2014.
  • The new Images widget will be turned off by default in CKEditor 4.3. It will be enabled by default in version 4.4.

Around the Net

  • Jesse Dobbelaere released a plugin that lets you easily use Icon Fonts in CKEditor. Icon Fonts are vector-based objects that can be modified without losing quality. You can see them in action here.

  • Vaadin 7.8.7 now supports CKEditor 4.2.2. Vaadin Framework is a Java web application development framework designed to simplify the creation and maintenance of high quality web-based user interfaces.
