The editor name itself isn't a huge issue, but the directory name and filenames are definitely so. I use the editor on a site for a youth sports organization and it is extremely awkward to say the least. For marketing reasons, a name change is probably very wise. But even if you'd like to retain FCKeditor as the formal name, a little discretion can't hurt -- simply replace the "FCK" filename/directory prefix, and that will solve much of the problem.
For what it's worth, though Mr. Knabben rejected it earlier, Freditor is my favorite among suggested new names. No reason why it couldn't be spelled FREDitor, in homage to the current name, which would eliminate any possibility of it being mistaken as an abbreviated form of "Free editor".
At least It will not confuse programmers and will be acceptable for managers. (I don't want to waste time for explaining to my managers - why I create F*ck folders for my customer)
The "FCK" letters are in use by Kentucky Fried Chicken fast-food chain in the USA, where people refer to it as "KFC". Perhaps the editor can change its name to "KFC_Editor" without much trepidation.
The bigger question is, how important is this, really? I have done quite a few installations and most clients don't EVER look at a site's file structure or files. They are not even aware of the Editor's name! So, in my opinion, there is no real need for a change, unless it is part of a long-term strategy to monetize the editor by selling/licensing it to somebody like Adobe (I don't blame Fred, if that's the case - he deserves as much money as he can get for his selfless work).
Now, given that Fred seems to be from Brazil, I have a little suggestion:
Yes, changing the name is a good idea. Having to explain why the url on the boss's screen includes a near expletive is just bad business - makes the programmer look like a punk kid who thinks he's being smart.
Why not forget all about your initials - as nice as it may make you feel, noone else cares. A more descriptive, marketing-oriented name that conveys the advantages of the software would be much more helpful to your product's image.
Keep it as is. The only people who really care what the product name is are the developers. Most end users I've talked to call it "The web editor" or even think it's a web version of MS Word; which is a compliment given Word's usage and the fact they can use FCK so intuitivly. They are even more surprised when they find out it's totally Open Sourced. Point is they don't see it as this product called FCKEditor but as this fantastic Rich Text editor that doesn't need to use "In your face" tactics to create usage loyalty.
You're "replacing" a textarea. I'd go with something that makes that obvious. There's already an editarea, but editorarea sounds real good to me. (and domain is available.)

Re: Name changing ideas. Leave your opinion.
Is the name of the FCKeditor actually still an issue?
