xml request error 502 help me please

When I load the file manager I get a xml request error 502.
I beleive it is an iis 5.0 server.

on my local server running apache the file browser works fine.
Anybody have this trouble. I heard if you use iis 6.0 it fixes it but I can't upgrade.

any help would be good
