using fckeditor for annotations to images

Hi,
We need to be able to add annotations to images and then reproduce the annotations (à la wang annotations with imaging) in a browser. Would this be very difficult to do using fckeditor? Does anyone know of any leads?

... what I mean by this is that we would store the html produced either in the image (e.g., in a tiff tag) or in a database and then when the image is requested recreate a page with the html entered as an annotation overlaid on the image (image as background?). It would be nice to have right-click menus and the like but probably not a show-stopper. If one could click on the annotation and then bring up an fckeditor with the text then that would fit the bill. Does this sound easily doable?

I think that first you need to work with the final HTML, imagine that the editor is able to create whatever HTML you want, and make that HTML behave just as you want, then you might want to create a plugin or change some files, but first you need to know exactly what do you want.

I am not sure I understand... basically I just want the user to be able to select a region and for a window with a reduced set of fckeditor to appear. Basically just rich text (so font, size, etc selection) but no tables or the like (maybe anchors...). I would then store this html somewhere (with the coordinates of the bounding rectangle), and when the page is requested construct a page with the html on it.
I guess the part I can't "see" at the moment is the creation of a "layer", which can be selected/moved/clicked later on. The rest doesn't seem to hard...

Using FCKeditor should be the last step in your development. start placing a textarea where you can write html, save that data and then show the page as you want.
When you have done that steps then it's the time to worry about FCKeditor.
