problems uploading images (connector disabled)

I'm very new to web design and to FCK. It was added to our site by the previous developer.
I've been trying to add/or upload an image to a page that needs to be a link to a gallery. I keep getting a message that reads:
The connector is disabled. Please check editor/filemanager/connector/php/config.php file.
What does that mean?
