We have worked in that first implementation and it actually works well, as you have noted. There are still minor things to refine and and lot of testing to be done to really put it on production.

We're also trying to keep in touch with the phpBB devs to possibly promote some cooperation between our dev teams. Let's see the results of it.

We should be working further on this for V3 during this year, possibly coming with the definitive solution for it.

about (half) a year ago i read that the (F)CKeditor was intended to work with phpBB3, but unfortunately it still ain't work with each other.

Is there any plan to get this work together? If yes, when?

I know I've been talking about contacting the phpBB group right after the 3.0, but it was still not possible. We're definitely overloaded.

The fact is that it has been difficult for us to allocate a developer for this specific project. We're still very interested on support it though, but I think a different strategy must be taken.

Just like proposed since the beginning, I think the phpBB team should be the responsible for developing this feature into phpBB. For that, you guys should point a lead developer for it, with good JavaScript experience. This person (or team) will them become your reference for this, being also the responsible for maintaining the feature in the future.

From our side, what we can offer is support for your team. We could even participate on initial discussions, eventually giving you some hints on the implementation strategy, development and optimization.

So, go ahead starting this, and feel free to keep us involved when needed.

I am the MOD Team leader over at phpbb.com and am looking into coding a way to integrate CKEditor into phpBB. As part of the RFC phase for 3.1 and 3.2, it has been suggested that CKEditor would be a good WYSIWYG editor to integrate. Since I am a bit familiar this software due to me having to integrate it into our system at work, I've decided to take this on.

What are the things I need to know when attempting to integrate this into the software? I know in the old FCKEditor there was some BBCode references in the package but there doesn't seem to be any such references in CKEditor so I need some guidance of where to start with regards to BBCodes and CKEditor.

I have always been a huge fan of phpBB and CKEditor. Personally I always wanted a rich text editor for phpBB, and in fact have been working on implementing one using the bbcode plugin.

Here is a list of bugs that encountered:

1. phpBB have font sizes as Normal, Small etc. while CKEditor mentions them in Pixels.


2. bbcode for specifying font sizes is not well implemented. Text formatted using Font Size option returns to normal after viewing the bbcode source. This happens only for bbcode and not HTML.


3. No feature for inserting code.


4. Block quotes is not quite good. It just intends the text. Personally, I'd prefer quotations around it (as text or image) or something that would differentiate it from normal text.

I am a developer myself and would love to attempt revamping this plugin... But I don't know where to begin...
