Seems there are quite a few people having trouble with these, so a separate thread is needed.
My problem is that the thumbs do not even get created. Everything else works fine. I'm considering a rewrite of the thumbnail.php script to use ImageMagick, but if someone has some ideas I can try I may not have to.
Cannot get debug output so it is hard to see where the script fails.

have you gd library enabled?
uncomment extension=php_gd2.dll in php.ini. restart server and thumbs will rulz...
