I posted this in the wrong area so I am reposting here:
I am not sure if this is even possible. I'm having a bit of a problem. I am moving my site to a new drupal CMS and so I need to copy a boatload of content over from the original site. My site is a literary site and so there is a lot of uses of italics and bolds and such. My problem that I am running into is that if I want the italics to show up, I have to select 'full HTML', however if I do this then the line breaks disappear. And if I select 'filtered HTML', the line breaks stay intact but the italics disappear. Is there a way to combine the two so that I can maintain the line breaks and the italics without having to go back and edit each page for one or the other?
Thanks very much for any help.

Re: italics and line breaks
Go to Configuration and under 'Content Authoring' choose 'Text Formats'. Choose 'Configure' under 'Filtered HTML'. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select the 'Limit allowed HTML tags' box and then add the desired tags into the box on the right. In my case it was the addition of the <i> tag.
