I'm having a similar problem with FCKeditor Resource Browser (in MODx):

After a log out and re-log in to Manager the Resource Browser (FCKeditor) will not show my sub folders in the File directory like this: /html/assets/files/Documents.
All I get is a blank window with the Resource Type pulldown showing Files.

If I quit Firefox and log in fresh all is fine.

You need to know the path that gets submitted. Look at the server's logs to see the URL path and possible errors reported. This path is translated to OS-specific path by the web server, so you need to know your web root path. Once you know where files are supposed to go, you can create a test file there using a test PHP script, so you can see if it's a security issue or not.

Like I said, look at your logs. If you see 404's then your file is not found. If you see 401 or 403, it's a permission problem. BTW, chmod doesn't really work on Windows because it uses a different security model.

You should try the following options:
