The greyed out icons probably means your editor settings are not set to Advanced (there could be more than two levels of use for the editor). I find these settings by clicking on: Mambots - Site Mambots - FCKeditor (mine says "JoomlaFCK") When you click on the FCKeditor there are Parameters and a dropdown box called Functions.... that's where I found the Advanced choice will give you full icon range when you go back to the Editor.
I use FCKeditor with Joomla so whatever you have, maybe you can find the same thing in your portal? ip

I use it with miniCMS which is a Coppermine plugin. FCKeditor came packed with MiniCMS. I sense there is something wrong with the installation. I wonder if I should uninstall minicms and reinstall. It's not working properly the way it is. Better yet, maybe I should just uninstall FCKeditor and install a fresh copy. What do you think?
BTW, I can't find the "advanced" setting.
OK, it's now a couple of days later and this is what I discovered. MiniCMS 1.6 with FCKeditor has to be used with Coppermine 1.4.9 and up. Well, the last stable release was 1.4.18, so, of course, it didn't work. I hope this helps someone else because I tore my hair out for a good week over this. I ended up uninstalling MiniCMS 1.6 and installing MiniCMS 1.5 and it works.
