I hoping someone will be able to shine some light on this. I'm having problems with uploading additional file types. I'm able to upload images with no problems but I'm unable to upload word or PDF files. When I click on "browse server" I only the Image folder under Resource Type; I do not see File, Media or Flash. I've already gone through the settings and enabled .doc and .pdf files; I've updated both config.php files. I've also created the File, Media and Flash directory and users do have access to write to these folders (they are setup like the image folder which works correctly). Everything seems to be configured correctly but I'm still getting a message that I'm using an invalid file type. It seems like I'm missing a setting but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Re: Upload other file types
To be able to use other file types you must use the button in the link dialog (if not done this way, the people might upload a doc to the images folder and then try to use it as an image and wonder why it doesn't automatically work)
Re: Upload other file types
alfonsoml,

Thanks for the reply and help, I knew it was something simple like that. I'm now able to upload files.
Re: Upload other file types
i'm having the same problem except i AM using the file browse button in the link (chain) popup. shows all pdf's i've uploaded manually but wont upload with fck upload function. no errors. nothing. image upload works great and my pdf folder is 'inside' my images folder so everything browses properly. it just won't actually upload. just screen refresh. all permissions are correct. any help would be great.
thanks in advance,
jf
Re: Upload other file types is ok ......
side issue though: why have my images uploaded fine all this time when folder was 775 but other file types require 777. seems like a bit of a security risk to have 777 on entire folder of uploaded files.
just wondering.
thanks,
jf

Re: Upload other file types
If you're on a shared host, it is generally good to ask your provider what's the appropiate method of creating folder wrtitable by server (for example if apache is running with suexec wrapper, it may enough to set up permissions to 755).
