Man, I could scream. Inexperience tells!
Without any notable problems, I have created quite a few e-newsletters in CiviCRM, which uses CKE.
Now, suddenly, some random code gets shoved into the source code and I cannot get rid of it! The result is that it kills the image src code. I'm at my wits end, having tried too many workarounds to list.
Although a browser program re-start changes the alpha characters, this is an example of what gets shoved in, that I can't successfully and permanently excise from the code and what stops the image displaying in the visual editor screen.

What the hell am I doing wrong, now?
Unfortunately this is not
Unfortunately this is not enough details to say what may be wrong. It may be some program in your OS, browser addon, CKEditor addon, your CRM or CKEditor itself (although this is very unlikely). But I would first ask on the CiviCRM forum or support.

Well, I tried afresh, using Opera v12.17. It worked. But when the same message template was opened in firefox, that blasted class attribute appeared and made the picture disappear. (As a consequence, I presume) Also, it opens OK in Sea Monkey v2.26, without the same effect as FF v29.0.1.
And now you mention it, there was a FF update not so very long ago. Maybe the culprit?
Can you try to disable
Can you try to disable AdBlock Plus in your Firefox?
(or any other ad-blocking extension that you have installed)
Eureka! How bizarre. Weird,
Eureka! How bizarre. Weird, even. No matter - it worked.
Great suggestion - thanks.
Wonder why it's not been a problem in the past?
Experience is a great thing, surpassed only be sharing know-how on Forums.
Yeah - I do it, too, with other things, so it's a goes round comes round thing.
Thanks lots, alfonsoml.
