Unable to install CKEditor

I’m having difficulty installing either CKEditor or FCKEditor (either will do)
on my Joomla 1.5.14

I’ve tried using the Joomla Extension Manager 3 different ways:

1. via “Upload Package File”
I tried these different files:
FCKeditor_2.6.5.zip
ckeditor_3.0.zip
ckeditor_3.0.tar.gz
Result:
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

2. via Extension Manager “Install from Directory”
Download zipfile > unpack on my PC > upload to server via FTP >
Result:
Error! Please enter a package directory

3. Via the Extension Manager “Install from URL”
From both CKeditor.com and also from sourceforge.net
Result:
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

I assume CK/FCKEditor are both Joomla compatible. Suggestions? Advance thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem. The installation instructions in Joomla use file directories that do not match files in the download.

Has anyone figured out the answer to this problem? Any clarification about how to rename files would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to download a Joomla extension instead of the generic CKEditor package?

Free hint: if in a download page doesn't mention anywhere that the file is a Joomla extension, then probably you won't be able to install it as a Joomla extension.

Please try our joomla extension from: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tors/12821
There are versions for joomla 1.5 and 1.6. If you still have problem with install please write post.
