I have been a user of fckeditor 1.5 for years but have not upgraded because of the difficulty in customising.
I have developed an integrated multi-site CMS - that is, one copy of the codebase, one database, and a directory tree containing a sub-tree for each site. Each site sub-tree holds images for the site, downloadable files, etc. Images are held in site/images, photo gallery images in site/images/gallery, and all other downloadables in site/data.
In my admin site where fckeditor is most used it is necessary to set the image and data directories at the time of usage (one codebase for all sites). I've been unable to find a way to do this in fckeditor as it stands, and attempting to customise has been a road of many changes. Likewise changing the locations for storing uploadable file types.
If there is a facility for identifying the location of uploadable files at runtime I'd love to hear about it, or even if it is under consideration. Otherwise the extent of changes needed suggests I will have to settle for a lesser subsystem.
In version 1.5 I had to customise to pass the file locations through, but the changes were few enough to be manageable. It seems not so any more, but I may be wrong. Thanks.
