Remove break tag on empty field

I need to sometimes make the field FCKEditor is using blank, the problem is when I delete all the content in the field and update the form the fckeditor always leaves a break tag in the source of the field. Even if I view the source and delete the break and update the form the break comes back. Is there a configuration in FCKeditor to turn this off?
