Problem formatting within the editor

This application works well except that when I add bullets, it drops the lines down. In word, I can do something like this:

Test Text Header
- test bullet one
- test bullet two

Where the "- " is a bullet.

However, in the editor, when I bullet lines, it drops it down so it appears:

Test Text Header

- test bullet one
- test bullet two



Any way around this? I know about soft returns, but if I do a soft return, it will bullet the header too.

HELP!
