I have found that in some cases, editing a page could cause dozens of queries to the server and it might take 10 - 20 seconds to open a page.
An example page is here, on our test environment: http://waterloo.openmethodology.org/wiki/TestWYWSIWYG
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks
Sean

Re: Performance issus with fckeditor and mediawiki
You seem to be local Sean (just down the road in fact
but on a closer look you appear to be hosted out of Ann Arbor Michigan - hard to tell. Your example does take its time to load the landing page but the rest is very fast on a ADSL 2+ connection. There does not appear to be a way to test editing but in any event I suspect that what you are experiencing may be local to your network, there being no indication of any discernible abnormality on the internet connection, such as multiple call backs. We're running out of the Optus data centre here and metrics are good, as is our CPU usage and server calls where the editor is concerned. We do however have one large client on their own very poorly configured intranet that has many problems, some of which do adversely affect FCKEditor.
Not much help I know, but your test appears to work just fine.
