Newbie: Custom toolbars?

Hi all, I downloaded v1.4 and got right to it. First trying to customise the toolbars. Followed the guide in the _docs section. But that does not seem to work. It keeps showing the default. I know because when I alter that one I see de differences. But the others, my custom bar or one of the others, won't show? Is this a known bug?
