Need a word counter - will pay!

I've searched and searched but can't find a plugin or code to add a word counter to an FCKeditor instance. Is it impossible and that's why no one has done it, or am I just blind? If anyone knows how to do this, or can create a plugin for me, I'm willing to pay. Basically I'd like to add a little box somewhere showing how many words the user has typed (basically just ignore all HTML and then count the number of spaces in the text??)
