Need urgent help: escape strings

hi there, this is the second time i write here because nobody knew an answer.
i urgently need help with a problem.

i have HTML code in the textarea and save it into a SQL db.
as soon as i save the content written by FCKEditor in source code mode, it converts

<p><img alt='Details zum Superdryer' src='http://www.ass-leonberg.de/img/details_superdryer.gif' /></p>

into

<p><img alt="\'Details" zum="" src="\'http://www.ass-leonberg.de/img/details_superdryer.gif\'" /></p>

the image won't show up. same happens to A HREF links which get spammed with weird quotes and slashes.... i dont know how to disable this bug... and i really need it quickly to finish an important project.
