Multiple image uploads via file browser

Is this possible ?
Instead of single img uploads one at the time, is there any way to 'batch' upload images?

this would be lovely - or a simple 'auto thumb' nailer for images found in a directory without a corresponding _thumbs file

So you want the server to always recreate the thumbs in memory instead of storing them?
That's a huge waste of resources.
