Link plugin's data-cke-saved-href attribute

Hi,

I'm working on a quotation (q) plugin that allows the user to specify a value for the 'cite' attribute. Copying the way the link plugin prompts for the href attribute, I have a 'protocol' and a 'url' input field on the dialog. What I'm a little confused about is whether I need to worry about having an equivalent to the link's 'data-cke-saved-href' attribute. Anyone know why that is present in the link plugin? I've spent ages looking through the source and googling, but the closest I found to an explanation so far is "to prevent browser bugs when copying, dragging, loading".

Does anyone have any more information on the reasoning behind this attribute, and whether I need to worry about doing similar for my q element's 'cite' attribute?
