Hello.
I am developing a commercial CMS application (to retail for $25.00AUD) and need some advice about FCKeditor.
The aforementioned CMS application includes an addon system, which allows users to extend its features with one click and no code modifications through the user of "modules".
I am a stickler for HTML standards compliance, where no code in my CMS reaches the client without being valid xHTML Strict. As such, I am mostly against Rich Text editors, and have built my own BBCode editor which I am content with. However, according to my research, nearly 80% of people who would pay for a CMS will only purchase it if it has a "WYSIWYG" editor.
Since I am 15 years old, with not even 5 cents to my name, I can not afford a redistributable license, but nor do I want to include FCKeditor by default.
So what I would like to do is write a "module" for my CMS that replaces the default BBCode editor with FCKeditor and bundle this module in by default. Of course, the module will be available for free download from the CMS' home page under the LGPL. I have no qualms about leaving any credits to FCKeditor intact, and all I will be doing is cleaning the code output a bit, such as replacing "<strong>" and "<u>" with "<b>" and "<span>".
The CMS is open source, as will be the module.
Is this within the licensing terms?
Sincerely,
Josh Dredge
