Kanji characters problem

Entering Kanji (Japanese) charaters seems to have changed in this new version. When viewing source it converts every character to somthing like 米 The older version did not do this. I have changed many config settings but can't fix it. Is this a bug?

If you have tried ProcessNumericEntities and it didn't work, then post likely the character set is misidentified on the page and the browser uses character entities to represent kanji. For example, if you identify your page as ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1), and type kanji, some browsers would do what you are describing.
