I have been working on this for some time. Will someone respond to this post please with other than RTFM - it's not up there!
I've downloaded FCKeditor_2.6.2.zip for the editor and fckeditor-java-2.4-beta-1-src.zip for java integration. I got the demo app (fckeditor-java-demo-2.4-beta-1.war) to run under Tomcat, but my Production environment is Sun Java Web Server. The demo app is .jsp based, but my app is servlet, no .jsp. Our app renders pure html. I have the fckeditor working (without file upload and server browse) using the javascript implementation. I have the fckeditor text area created like this:
<script type="text/javascript">
var oFCKeditor = new FCKeditor('edittedContent');
oFCKeditor.BasePath = '/fckeditor/';
oFCKeditor.Height = 400 ;
oFCKeditor.Value = 'Jim!';
oFCKeditor.Create() ;
</script>
... and the control is displayed fine.
I think I have the java integration installed correctly server side - at least no compiler errors!
I get the following error when I try to browse the server:
The server didn't send back a proper XML response ... it's referring to PHP connectors.
the client never posted to the server in the first place. The client is trying to use a PHP connector. I think I need to edit fckconfig.js to tell it which connector to use, but can't find an example using the recent 2.6.2 and 2.4 java beta.
I have bounced through all the forums ad nausem looking for java integration posts for my needs, to no avail. It would be great if someone would post an example of a html and javascript implementation of fckeditor 2.6.2, and the associated fckconfig.js configuration for java integration where the server side is java-2.4-beta.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Java Integration, servlet app, no jsp, javascript implementa
there are some points in your post which I do not fully understand.
1. It is incorrect to say that the demo app is JSP based. It uses JSP as the view, we could have used Velocity or any other template engine/view. Do you use HTML for views?
2. Until now you did not use the Connector and want to use it, right?
3. Is there any reason you installed the src distro? If you do not intend to alter the source, you should use the bin distro.
4. The current package is not intented to be used with a JS integration. Using JSP will help you greatly, as it sets all necessary parameters.
The FCKeditor JS backend is now aware of all urls and paths which are necessary.
If you rely on the JS intregration only you will have to adapt the fckconfig.js and will loose any dynamics JSP offers.
5. The Connector matches all requests on the base connectors folder. The reason you see PHP is just because it is the default implemenation. But It doesn't matter since the Java Connector's url pattern matches all of them.
What is the reason you don't use JSP as views?
