Issue with special characters

We are currently using the 2.6.x version of the editor. We are having a weird issue and would apprietiate your help. When we type in the spanish characters they are not getting saved in SQL the way it looks in the editor. But when the data is retrieved and view in the editor its all OK - example on the editor it looks like this Ó but in SQL it looks like Ã“ - but when the same Ã“ is pulled from SQL and viewed in the editor it looks like Ó - PLEASE HELP!
