Is there a reason the Insert Special Character button actually inserts the special character, instead of the safe HTML code (like & #150;) for that character?
Has anyone been able to answer this question? I know you posted it quite some time ago, but I'm having the same problem and I think it's messing up my code.

From what I could figure out, Fckeditor *does* insert the HTML code, such as & copy;. But then the editor itself (and this might have more to do with the MS DHTML editor rather than Fckeditor's use of it) changes that code to the actual character the code represented.
