Importing content from external source

I've been working with FCKeditor today... attempting to implement it into my site. My question is, how do I get the editor to "receive" code from external source. I use PHP and MySQL. I know how to query the database and pull data using PHP but does anyone know how I then import that extracted data into the editor (as if to edit a previously published item)?
