Image select from a folder problem

HI
I can add an image from the server to the document ok but if I create a folder and then upload an image to the folder the image is uploaded . But when I try and add the image in the folder to the document it misplaces / like this

/uploads//afolderimage.jpg

instead of

/uploads/afolder/image.jpg

I am using version 2.2
help I am desperate
