I found this as well. A 'hack' is to identify the value <p></p> and delete it.

Do you perform the replacement on the client side on submit or on the server side? If on client side, do you have sample code to do this?

I did this on the server side since the only time I display a value in the fckeditor is when a value is being returned from the db to the field for editing.
