Everything works fine in IE(7) but problems arise in Firefox (and Opera). The display page makes room for the text editor box, but no box materialises and when I check Firefox's error log, here is what I get.
FCKTools.FixCssUrls is not a function
also (another error)
FCKLang is not defined
Any guidance would be extremely helpful here. It all worked in version 2.5.1
I couldn't resist having a go at some of these before I left and I have resolved my problem.
It WAS related to cache and, surprisingly, only on the Firefox browser not IE. It's normally the other way around.
Pressing F5 (a number of times) did not resolve the issue, so within Firefox I did:-
Tools > Options > in the Private Data section I hit the Clear Now button > I ticked everything except Cookies and Saved Passwords > Clear Private Data Now button > OK
and everything worked fine after that.
Thank you for all your help here and by pointing me towards that other thread, which I failed to see the first time round.
Thanks for posting these tips. I also could not get the existing JavaScript out of memory and had to use Tools > Options > Privacy > Clear Now, checking Cache and Offline Website Data (I am guessing Cache was the key), and that fixed the issue.
This was much better than other solutions I have seen - most seemed to assume that the cause could not be determined and that you needed a fresh install of Firefox and possibly even a new profile. No thank you, I'd rather solve the problem than work around it.
Not only about this problem, but if you have any strange behavior in Firefox, reinstalling it won't fix the problem most of the times. Instead you should try to start Firefox in Safe Mode (no extensions) and if it fails in that situation then create a new profile, that means that it's starting from scratch and you can verify the behavior and if it works try to find out what's different in your current profile than in the new one.
