I am trying to enable the upload image feature, but I keep receiving the error message, "Error creating folder "/userfiles" (Can't create directory)." I went ahead and manually created the directory 'userfiles' in /fckeditor/userfiles/. I have also set the permission of the folder to 755. Unfortunately, I continue to receive the error message. My site is hosted by Yahoo. By looking at a similar post, the individual had his/her absolute and relative paths set incorrectly. I probably do, too. I've tried about every combination I can think of. If you simply FTP into my site, the location would be:
/northernhillsweb/fckeditor/userfiles
Would someone help me, please, with this error?
Thanks,
Roy

Re: Error creating folder "/userfiles" (Can't create d
what path do you have set in the connector you're using? If it is "/userfiles" the directory has to be in the serverroot (eg. mydomain.com/userfiles) otherwise you have to use /fckeditor/userfiles or in your case "/northernhillsweb/fckeditor/userfiles" seems to be the path to go with.
The path which is used (in the php-connector) is absolute to the serverroot (the description is a bit missleading) an well... not really relative to the filesystem, but just not the filesystem-path.
Hope I could help you.
Re: Error creating folder "/userfiles" (Can't create d
Hello,
Thank you "bruderjakob". I'm not quite sure I understood your directions. However, this is the only way I could get things to work, but I'm not convinced that these are the correct paths:
$Config['UserFilesPath'] = 'http://www.northernhillsweb.org/fckeditor/userfiles/' ;
$Config['UserFilesAbsolutePath'] = '/fckeditor/userfiles/' ;
However, while this method allows me to upload files, I cannot use the resource browser to look for files on the server. The resource browser does not let me change directories. I'm sure it goes back to the fact that I don't have the above configured correctly. Will you comment on what is wrong with the above, please?
Thanks,
Roy
Re: Error creating folder "/userfiles" (Can't create d
I would recommend to place a small test-script (e.g. test.php) with the following content:
<?
echo $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'];
?>
in the directory you want to use for userfiles (the userfiles-dir itself). Then try to access it with your browser and if successful, use the path which gets printed out in your config.php for $Config['UserFilesPath'] and set $Config['UserFilesAbsolutePath'] back to empty.
What I meant to say in my last post was, that the "relative" path is not really realtive. At least not in the usual meaning.
Re: Error creating folder "/userfiles" (Can't create d
Hi Bruderjakob,
Thanks. Your directions worked fine! However, do you have any idea why the resource broswer won't let me view any directory on the server except:
http://www.northernhillsweb.net/fckedit ... r/default/
Thanks,
Roy
