In FCKeditor you could enable Firefox checking by default, but I can not find anyway to do this with CKeditor.
In order to get the underlined spelling mistakes to show up the user has to CTRL-Right click on the mouse and then select "Check Spelling". On a mac it is Command-Right click.
The lack of this feature is a showstopper in our conversion from FCKeditor.

You want this: http://docs.cksource.com/ckeditor_api/s ... ellChecker

I forgot to note that using the GeckoSpellChecker plugin users can get the spell suggestions inserted into the default context menu of CKEditor if they have installed the Write Area extension
