I've been having a problem with tags I hard code into the source editor being eliminated.
For instance:
An image aligned to the left. The text flows to the right but I want to stop it after a sentance and continue below the image on a new line.
Simple HTML fix. <br clear="all"> So I write it into the source. Jump back to the WYSIWYG. When I hit "save" the text reflows around the image. When I check the source, the <br> tag is gone, as if I never wrote it.
Jumping back and forth between the WYSIWYG and Source does the same. The only way I can get it to stick is if I publish directly from the source editor. A clumbsy work around, because it doesn't allow me to do any further editing without losing what I did, unless I stay in the source editor.
I've heard that the clear="all" tag is deprecated and thought that might be a reason, so I tried:<br class="both"> (with CSS) - works fine as code, but when I save or jump back to the WYSIWYG and save, it also gets eliminated.
I think we're using the latest version of FCKEditor. Has anyone else had code disappear like this?

RE: Eliminated code from source
I've tried the current demo http://www.fckeditor.net/demo and the nightly build http://www.fckeditor.net/nightly/fckedi ... fault.html both in IE 6 and Firefox 2 and none of them exhibited your problem.
RE: Eliminated code from source
My particular problem is with server-side includes (<!--#...-->). If a server-side include is the FIRST and ONLY entry in source mode, switching back to WYSIWYG removes the ssi tag. However, if TWO ssi tags are entered, it seems to work fine.
I've also seen this with an img tag - First and Only get eliminated.
This is causing a great deal of concern with our implementation.
NOTE: This behavior does NOT exhibit with 2.3x version of FCKEditor.
ANY help would be appreciated.
RE: Eliminated code from source
That problem has been fixed in the nightlies.
You should check them to be sure that next version works fine and there isn't any other problem http://dev.fckeditor.net/wiki/SVN#NightlyBuild

Re: Eliminated code from source
Maybe there's a more correct way to do this, but I've been using <br clear="left" /> for years to force a new line after a table or image when I want to force text to start on a new line. Does anyone have a better way to do this?

Here is the fix to this:

You have to modify the FCKeditor config file.
