Editor occasionally crashes, 'null' value stored in database

I am seeing a problem where the editor will occasionally crash (I have not yet been able to determine a common action that causes this). It happens fairly frequently, and something as small as editing text is able to cause it. After crashing, the value 'null' (4 letters, not an actual NULL value) is stored in the database for this item, and any text that had been in the editor is lost. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Yeah, users of slower machines at the company I work for are consistently getting the same error. The editor does not load on their PC's. They get multiple JavaScript errors like FCKConfig.CustomConfigurationsPath.length is null or not an object; PluginsPath is null or not an object; FCKConfig.ContextMenu.length is null or not an object; undefinted is null or not an object. Then if they save, the previous value becomes a null.

I am not able to replicate the error on my PC, so it's a frustrating exercise.

We are using version 2.6.3 with IE6/WinXP.
