Drupal 6: editor loads for new post but not edit!?

I have 3 installs of drupal 6 on the same server, all use FCKEditor 2.6.3. In two of three, it works fine. In the latest install, the editor works for new posts and editing posts of all kinds until ANY change is made to Visibility Settings or Editor Appearance, or adding a FIle Browser -- for any profile. Then it stops loading for edits, but still works for new posts.

A complete mystery. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice, now quite familiar with the process. I've also tried to duplicate ALL settings from the successful drupal instances. Still the same issue.

I have been having this same problem, although it is inconsistent. For all new posts, the FCKeditor appears as expected. When I edit certain posts, the FCKeditor appears; for others it does not. I have not been able to identify a pattern as to what triggers the problem for certain posts.

Tweaking the visibility settings as suggested by Fiona above did not work for me.

Same problem here.
It's not an issue of visibility, in fact I can see that the visibility settings work fine. I see just a 3 line textarea where the fckeditor should have been, and only when I set it to exclude edit-post does the "original" drupal text area appear (textarea with lots of lines and the javascript expansion handle at the bottom).
Tried older versions of fck editor too, they don't work either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Version 6.x-1.3-rc6, just released, addresses this problem:

I upgraded and initial tests look good -- issue seems to be fixed in my install.

I can also confirm that the upgrade to rc6 has also worked for me.
