Don't convert special sequence to htmlentities?

Hi,

is it possible to set a configuration value that specifies special sequences, that should not be converted to htmlentities?

In my special case, I want the editor to convert everything, except for the sequence <>.

So < should be converted to < > should be converted to > but <> should stay <>.
