Commercial License..

we all have the same question, but nobody seems to be able to answer this, not even ckeditor itself.

Please, can anyone be a little less vague about what can be done in a commercial project when using the open source license?

You might not be able to find a good reply in the forums because this is something that you have to deal with your legal advisor, not some random poster in internet.

You have to option to use the product using GPL, LGPL and MPL licenses, and you are the one that must verify if those licenses are good for your company. If they don't, then you can get a Commercial License so you don't have to worry about any legal trouble.

can you give me an example of what cannot be done with CKEDITOR compared to if if was licensed under MIT? I know what MIT is, but I don't understand the difference with the license CKEDITOR ships with or why they don't ship as MIT?

MPL:

The MPL treats the source code file as the boundary between MPL code and proprietary parts, meaning that a certain source file (e.g., C++, JavaScript or XUL file) is either fully MPL or fully proprietary. The GPL, in contrast, uses the process boundary of the executable as the license boundary (for details, see GPL).

Does this mean that only changes to the CKeditor plugin must be open source and not the software that is built around it? Thanks for helping us figure out your license for correct use!
