Attempting to install Aspell in FCKEditor on Win2003 IIS server. Have installed ActivePerl-5.8.8.817-MSWin32 and Aspell-0-50-3-3-setup.exe and english dict. Have added pl to IIS ISAPI extensions as c:\perl\bin\perl.exe. Have set FCKConfig.SpellChecker = 'SpellerPages'. Have modified spellchecker.js this.spellCheckScript = 'server-scripts/spellchecker.pl' Have modified spellchecker.pl #!C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe and my $aspell_cmd = '"c:\program files\aspell\bin\aspell.exe"'
Consistently get an error "Aspell program execution failed. "C:Program FilesAspellinaspell.exe" -a -lang=en_us <C:WindowsTempasp1DC.tmp2>&1>
As you can see, all of the backslashes "\" are stripped from the command.
What could be causing this? Thanks for your help.

RE: Anyone successful installing Aspell/Win20
Why arent you using the PHP implimentation of it? Did you install perl just to run FCK editor and or the spellerpages?
Your problem more than likey does not reside with the spellchecking.js (as long as the page is appropireate IE .. for the page to the spellchecker.html for a local install it shoud look something like this: c:\\website\\editor\\speller\\spellchecker.html
and your link to spellchecker.php (perl page shoudl be the same) shoud look like this:
c:\\website\\edtior\\speller\\server-scripts\\spellchecker.php
Spellchecker.php (or pearl) is probably the problem... I had a very hard time getting aspell to work in windows because of the severe lack of documentation (for FCK and Aspell for the spellerpages and seems no one has published the solution anywhere.) so anyway... here ya go:
My problem mostly sat with the line that pointed to the exe and the dictionary.
spellchecker.php
EXE:
$aspell_prog = '"C:\\progra~1\\aspell\\bin\\aspell.exe"';
$lang = 'en_US';
//This is also for adding your own personal dictionary. (let me know if you need more info for that as well)
$aspell_opts = "-a --lang=$lang --encoding=utf-8 -H --add-extra-dicts=aspell.en_US.pws";
$tmpfiledir = "C:\\PHP\\uploadtmp\\";
Hope this helps.. if it does please let me know.. id like to publish this solution on my webpage.
RE: Anyone successful installing Aspell/Win2003?
this.popurl= fck_spellerpages/spellerpages/spellchecker.html and
this.spellCheckScript = 'server-scripts/spellChecker.php'
I am now using PHP, with the same errors as before.
I tried your $aspell_prog suggestion but that did not help.
It is executing the spellchecker.php script, but that script isn't properly executing the aspell program. THe error message is "Aspell program execution failed".

RE: Anyone successful installing Aspell/Win2003?
$aspell_prog = 'C:\"Program Files"\Aspell\bin\aspell.exe';
$cmd = addslashes("$aspell_prog $aspell_opts < $tempfile 2>&1");
However, we had to give IUSR_COMPUTERNAME rights to cmd.exe which is unacceptable. Any ideas how to get around this?
