I love the control but it seems like it doesn't work on Android devices (just get a grey block on the screen where the control should be). Is this a known issue and is there any work around?

Have you checked this guide?
CKEditor is disabled for some Android browsers, as mentioned in the FAQ. Have you checked this guide on how to enable it on unsupported environments?
