really simple upload, no 'file center' view

Hi all,
I am sure this must be covered in the forum somewhere but I can't find it for all the search terms in the world...

I already use ckFinder for other areas of the app and it is great - but can I have a simple 'upload avatar' button in an 'edit profile' page without all the added complexities of the whole 'file center' stuff?

just upload to a given directory - plus all the security stuff of course
