This would be a seriously awesome extension for ckfinder. Our users are constantly uploading images that are too big or need cropping and just expecting it to work. The free Aviary plugin (recently implemented by mailchimp which caught my attention) would more than solve this problem.

I've been trying to figure out how I would integrate ckfinder with this image editor but really I think it needs a big "Edit Image" button within the ckfinder popup itself.

We're working on a better
We're working on a better image editing in CKFinder 3.x, including things like cropping images and applying various transformations. The Aviary plugin will not be used for that, however hopefully the new architecture of CKFinder 3.x will make adding such functionality really simple.
The only problem is in ETA for 3.x, currently we hope to release a beta version for PHP till the end of this year.
