I've had some users reporting that they find the folder tree and file list view a bit confusing. They are used to windows explorer where sub-folders appear in the right hand pane. Is this possible with CKFinder?

there is no such built in feature but you can try do this by css.
Please use attached css file - it is for skin "Kama". Insert it in your CKFinder/skins/kama directory - remember to backup orginal file.
This solution is not perfect in this moment - the directions are reversed when resizing folder Pane.
