Not getting Samples to work

I am trying my first installation of CKFinder. I have uploaded everything and completed the config.php but I cannot get the standalone samples to work, I just get the following message:

"The file browser is disabled for security reasons. Please contact your system administrator and check the CKFinder configuration file."

I am quite sure that I am doing/not doing something that is rudimentary but I am not sure what.

Is there a kind, patient soul out there who is prepared to help please?!
