Can anyone assist me with this error, i have downloaded and used the wizard but this is the only thing stopping me from getting this working " i think ".
I have put this down to permissions as if the directory is not correct in the baseUrl and the baseDir in the config file i get an error stating that the directory does not exist and should be created with write permissions etc, and if the directory is correct which it is with IIS user with modify or full i get the above none descript error message in the wizard.
I am using IIS7.5 and a classic asp application that i would like to integrate this into and any help would be a great help as i have been stuck at this for hours now.
Am i missing something blindingly obvious?? it would not suprise me the length of time i have been staring at these files.....
cheers folks.

Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
If for some reason you can't see it in the summary, use the link to view all the log and look at the end of it.
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
error creating a folder in the baseDir path
and this one too;
error number: 424, message: Object required
So it looks like i maybe right and it is indeed a permission problem, are there any tutorials/instruction on how to set this up in ii7.5 as i have search and cannot find anything remotely helpful as i am new to this platform am used to iis6 which was far simpler to do this very task.
Again many thanks for any help or links you can pass my way.
cheers...........Ed
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Ups sorry, my bad.
Due to the changes in 2.2 now the creation of folders performs some extra checks and I forgot to update the wizard to take that into account.
Please, download the new version and run it again: download/file.php?id=1336
I've included a more explicit warning for those using IIS6 if they have left the execution permission enabled in the upload folder as it's too dangerous due to the bug that MS hasn't fixed.

Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
am gonna see if i can figure that out but if this is a known problem then please advice how to fix and i can get to the bottom of the original problem. The only thing i had to do is sort the parent paths issue as the testing server does not allow those, and that was all as i did with the original wizard but this gets stuck.....
again thanks for any assistant as if i get this working it looks possible i have been given the go ahead to buy this as it looks amazing and just what we need.
cheers............Ed
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Anyway, I don't really know what's your original problem: you have started the topic due to a problem with the wizard, but you don't really need the wizard: it's meant to help configuring and troubleshooting, but I still don't know what's your initial problem, maybe no one else has reported it before and so the wizard can't help with it.
What's your problem with CKFinder?
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
well the original problem i was having is that the CKFinder app cannot find "the image manipulation object" and after searching the internet i found that the wizard was designed for this purpose of correctly configuring the app to sort this very issue.
All was going swimming as i waded through each error fixing them with the original wizard but then it or i got stuck with the error originally above "failing to validate the baseDir setting" with the errros in the more info as listed above.
So after i setup the parent paths again in the new files in the new version of the wizard you recomended to use it doesnt get past the first block with the hello message.......strange i know as it doesn't even show the next helo block with the includer path in it. nore are there any additional error messages or even script errors when debugged etc ??
our testing servers are not accessible externally and my manager will not allow untested or development apps on our live servers so dont know what to suggest other than screen shots, either hear or through the pm system hear.
cheers for any further help as i feel i was getting close to this working.
One more question to add, is there a version that includes the editor included/integrated as i have managed to get the editor version working without problems and we just needed the extra functions that has too.
again thanks for any further assistance on this problem.
cheers...........Ed
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Click on the "view detailed output" and then send that to me in a PM.
Are you sure that you have edited correctly all the include paths?
The new version has some new includes besides the previous ones and you must apply the same adjustments to them.
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
I have edited and run all the include files so that the asp errors are gone, and its weird as i thought i had messed up doing what you asked me, so i started with a fresh unedited version by running the default page at the root of the wizard with my mindset being that i would pickup what was going on.
Here were the results from the first set of errors stating that the helo.asp page could not be found, which was just html red text as below;
This page will try to find out any problem in order to properly run CKFinder for ASP.

Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Ah ha....... after i had a thought to clear the browser cache i have uncovered this script error on line 65 as below section of the script;
var server = '' ;
function VerifyIISServer_Callback( resource )
{
var result = new Result() ;
if ( resource.status != 200 )
{
// 403.1: execute access forbidden. Execution of asp pages is disabled
if ( resource.status == 403 && resource.text.indexOf( 'HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden' ) !=-1 )
result.SetError( 'The server doesn\'t allow to run asp pages (at least in this folder)' , null) ;
else
result.SetError( 'The asp test file failed. <br>' + resource.GetError() , null) ;
}
else
{
// IE6 doesn't return the headers
if (resource.headers)
{
// Buggy IE
// IE7 doesn't return the Server header if the response was cached. Maybe also under other situations, so let's protect this.
var matches = resource.headers.match( /Server\:\s(.*)/ ) ;
if (matches)
server = matches[1] ;
}
if ( resource.text == 'hello' )
{
var message,
link=null;
if (server=='')
message = 'Unable to find out the version of the IIS server.'
else
{
if (server=='Microsoft-IIS/6.0')
{
message = "Warning: you're using IIS 6. Remember that it has a bug that could allow an attacker to bypass the extensions filtering in CKFinder<2.2.<br>" +
"Verify that you have the latest version of CKFinder and always disable the execution permissions in the upload folders";
link = 'http://ckfinder.com/blog/CKFinder_2.2_released';
}
else
message = "Version of the IIS server: '" + version + "'";
}
result.SetWarning(message, link) ;
}
else
{
if (server!='' && server.indexOf('Microsoft-IIS')==-1 )
{
result.SetError( 'This wizard is meant to be used with the ASP connector on MS IIS server.<br>' +
'You are using "' + server + '" instead.', null) ;
}
else
{
if (server=='')
result.SetError('Probably you are trying to use this page in a non-MS server, but the browser didn\'t provide that info <br>' +
resource.GetError() , null) ;
else
result.SetError('The asp test file wasn\'t parsed properly. <br>' + resource.GetError() , null) ;
}
}
}
TestRunner.FinishedTest( result ) ;
}
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
You can replace the Javascript file with the previous one and go ahead
Also, remember that when a test fails (and it's not a Javascript error) you have a link to go on with the tests
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Yesterday I was too asleep and I couldn't see the problem
I've uploaded a new version (download/file.php?id=1339) that fixes the problem and adds also an error handler so hopefully if there's a javascript error again in the future it will be shown correctly (but it's better if there are no errors at all)
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
hi and many thanks for the assistance,
yeh i know what you mean being both tired and no errors but we are dealing with computers so i guess we plod through , but many thanks for all your efforts so far and i will try later with the new version.
Cheers...........Ed
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
I've re-uploaded it because in this new server I found that it claimed that an adjustment about the paths was required but the fact is that CKFinder was working correctly even without it. new file: download/file.php?id=1340
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
Many thanks for that latest wizard as it has got me now a good way through a few errors and a bit of research on how to fix them, but i am at least back to where i was before i posted this question, and once i get past this issue i think i may be sorted, well until the next issue.
Also i wondered if anyone has picked up on your demo site has issues with IE9 and crashes the web page when any of the popup boxes runs, though if run in compat mode they run as expected, i am sure this has been picked up before now by someone. Is there a fix for this or something i should do whilst i am delving into this application.
again a massive thanks for all the help so far.
cheers................Ed
Re: Failed to validate the baseDir setting
With regards to the IE9, can you please open a new thread and detail as much as possible exactly what happens? I don't recall anyone else reporting problems that made IE9 revert to compatibility mode in the official demo.
Maybe it's due to some plugin or BHO in your IE9 install that it's misbehaving?
