CKF 3 release date?

ETA is around the summer of 2014. There's no public track.

The "around summer 2014" release date for CKF3 was given 9 months ago, and it's now the end of summer 2014. May we have another ballpark estimate for the release date for CKF3?

Any updates on this? I also need ckfinder with S3 integration in my project. 

Apologies for not getting back to you earlier. @mmandersonii. @KevinVG - are you looking for the PHP version or a different server side connector?

I prefer to be cautious when talking about ETA. We still have to polish the UI, before we publish even the beta version (that's why I cannot even post any screnshots, they would not make any sense). The basic functionality we wanted to have in 3.0 is more or less implemented, the server connector for PHP is mostly done, but to complete the project for real still some good work has to be done. A really unofficial date that seems reachable at this stage is the end of this year.

We have some cool ideas that we'd taget for 3.1 and 3.2 to not delay 3.0 (btw. feel free to propose things that you'd like to see in CKFinder, apart from having the 3.x version finally released at all ;-)). Apart form that I'm a bit unhappy with the way how thumbnails were handled in CKFinder 1.x / 2.x and we're now investigating if we do not want to try something new in CKFinder 3.x, this is the last important decision that we have to make before launching CKFinder 3.0.

@mmandersonii - the Java version will be released in two phases. In the first phase, CKFinder 3.x will come with the new UI and with the server connector from 2.x.

The new Java server conector with features introduced by the PHP connector will be provided later, somewhere around 2Q 2015.

Let me briefly explain why we started with one, the most popular connector (PHP). It was the most optimal approach: finish one connector first that we can later "translate" to other languages. While working on PHP connector we created all the necessary documentation for other server side connectors (that can be also reused by anyone willing to write his own connector). We also wrote lots of "universal" tests that can check basically any server side connector. .

Once we are sure that the "universal" tests cover all the scenarios and the documentation is fully complete, we'll work on additional connectors, where things like cloud storage might be supported (ASP.NET and Java).

I'm looking for the PHP version. I want to use CKEditor with CKFinder to upload images into texts and store all these files on amazon S3.
