Which browser are you using? I am a new user of ckfinder and ckeditor and I can say that if you play enough with the basedir and and url structure you get it eventually. Also check that you have given permissions to create folders. BUT It only works for me in Chrome and Firefox not in IE. In IE I get a js error and no folders listed. I know they are there obviously. Anyone got any suggestion as to where to look please?

Google Chrome Frame is an open source plug-in that seamlessly brings Google Chrome's open web technologies and speedy JavaScript engine to Internet Explorer. With Google Chrome Frame, you can: Start using open web technologies - like the HTML5 canvas tag - right away, even technologies that aren't yet supported in Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8. Take advantage of JavaScript performance improvements to make your apps faster and more responsive.
Good point about using chrome within IE but unfortunately I cant persuade my users to change their allegiance to IE nor to install stuff like chrome inside it.
Also I did not know you could use Firebug (Lite) in IE which is a useful tip thank you, but unfortunately it will not launch with CKfinder because the ckfinder window in shown with the url bar protected. I am sure it must be easy to change that but I will have to find the place where it is launched.
